How to Delete Previous Versions of Limewire
LimeWire is a popular peer-to-peer file-sharing program. The application can be installed on several computer platforms, including Apple, Linux and Windows. LimeWire connects to the Gnutella network to allow sharing of files with users around the world. LimeWire provides functionality to share files stored on your computer as well as to retrieve files from other computers. The search features allow a user to find a specific file on the network. Removal of the program from a computer may be required, due to transfer of the computer or the need to lock down a machine for security.

Windows Removal

Open the "Control Panel" screen in Windows.

Select "Add or Remove Programs" and scroll down to the "LimeWire" entry.

Click on the "Change Remove" button and follow the prompts to remove LimeWire.

Click on the "Finish" button to complete the removal process.

Confirm that LimeWire no longer appears in the "Add or Remove Programs" list.
Linux Removal

Open a command prompt or "terminal" session.

Change directories to the root directory of the LimeWire installation.

Execute the uninstall file "/UninstallerData/Uninstall_LimeWire". This will start a graphical interface to allow removal.

Follow the prompts of the graphical removal program.

Click on the "Finish" button to complete the uninstall of LimeWire
Apple Removal

Close the LimeWire application if currently in use.

Drag the LimeWire icon to the trash folder to remove the application.

Open the file explorer to the hard drive to which LimeWire was installed.

Navigate to the "User\Library\Preferences\LimeWire" folder.

Drag the LimeWire folder to the trash icon to complete the removal process.
