How to Make a Heavy Paper Flower Bouquet
Making a heavy paper flower bouquet is a smart way to use up extra construction paper and create a flower decoration that lasts much longer than tissue or crepe paper flowers. While the heavy paper does limit your ability to create flowers with fluffy petals, you can create much more defined shapes with the sturdy pulp.
Things You'll Need
- Dark red construction paper
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Red construction paper
- Pink construction paper
- Green chenille stem, 18 inches long
- Yellow construction paper
- Craft glue
- Ribbon

1
Cut 12 circles from the dark red construction paper, 5 inches in diameter each, to start the flowers in the heavy paper flower bouquet. Trim a circle to create the shape of four, oval petals that are connected at the bases. Repeat the process with each circle.

2
Cut 12 circles from the red construction paper, each 4 inches in diameter, and trim into the four-petal flower shape. Cut 12 circles from the pink paper, 3 inches in diameter each, and trim into the four-petal flower shape.

3
Create a heavy paper flower by placing a dark red flower shape on a flat surface with the petals pointing north, south, east and west. Take the red flower shape and turn it a little to the left so that the petals are facing more northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest. Center the red flower on the dark red flower. Take the pink flower shape and turn it farther to the left than you did the red paper to keep the petals scattered instead of aligned. Center the pink flower on the red flower. Repeat the process to create a total of 12 flowers.

4
Poke one small hole 1/2 inch above the center of the flower and second small hole 1/2 inch below the center. Keep the dark red, red and pink paper flower shapes stacked together. Use a knife tip or scissors.

5
Push one end of a chenille stem through the back of the first hole to the front of the paper flower. Pull the stem through the front of the second hole and to the back of the heavy paper flower. Line the chenille stem ends up evenly and twist them together to secure the three construction paper shapes together and create a flower stem.

6
Repeat steps 4 and 5 to secure each of the 12 heavy paper flowers with a chenille stem. Cut 12 circles from the yellow construction paper, 1 inch diameter each. Dab some glue on the back of the yellow circle and glue it to the middle of a flower, covering the green chenille stem. Repeat for each flower and let dry.

7
Gather the 12 flowers together in your hand and arrange them into a bouquet shape. Tie a piece of ribbon around the middle of the chenille stems to secure the heavy paper flower bouquet.
