Most printers use USB cables in order to communicate with the computer for printing files. However, in places where there are more than enough cables going all over the place, it may do you good to remove at least one cable from the mess. Fortunately, you can use a USB to bluetooth adapter specifically designed for printers to keep your printer connected to your PC wirelessly.

  • Bluetooth-compatible computer
  • Installation CD
  • Printer drivers installed on computer

Instructions

      Disconnect the USB cable between your printer and computer.

      Insert the installation CD that came with your Bluetooth adapter into your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers for your computer.

      Connect the bluetooth adapter to the USB port on your printer when prompted to by the installation software. Be sure the device is active before continuing.

    • 4

      Pair the printer with the computer. The installer or software installed from it will direct you through the pairing process. Restart the computer if prompted.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the adapter within 30 feet of the computer and its printer.

    Doesn't work. My printer is not listed. My printer is a non-Bluetooth-enabled printer, so I attached the hp bluetooth adapter to the USB port of the printer using a USB B-to-A adapter. The Bluetooth adapter activation light never comes on like it does when I connect it to my computer.
