How to Make a Cloth Microwave Potato Cooker

Baked potatoes are a great food for a side dish or even a main dish. However, they can be messy and time consuming to make. For those with busy and hectic lives, there's no time or patience for baked potatoes. However, microwave potatoes, when cooked in a potato bag, can be just as good as baked potatoes. All it takes to make your own microwave potato bag is a few sewing supplies and basic sewing skills. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 100 percent cotton fabric
  • Quilt batting
  • Fabric scissors
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Hand sewing needle

Instructions

      Cut out two circles of fabric, each 10 inches in diameter. Place the fabric circles on top of each other, right sides together.

      Cut out a circle of batting that is 10 inches in diameter and place it directly on top of the fabric circles. Sew the circles together all the way around, leaving an opening of about 1 inch.

      Turn the circle right side out through the 1-inch opening. Hand sew the opening closed.

      Repeat steps 1 through 3. Place the two finished circles on top of one another and sew them together, leaving an opening of about 4 inches.

      Wrap the potatoes in a paper towel, put them into the bag through the 4-inch opening and microwave.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be cautious and watch your bag. Some high-powered microwaves may cause flare-ups.
