How to Make a DVD With Digital Pictures and a Musical Background
By including a thoughtful musical background to complement your digital picture library, you can create a compelling video presentation using DVD-creation software. You can choose from many software titles; select one that does the work for you. Picture-to-DVD software features automated transitions between pictures, and can add movement by zooming in or panning across each photo. Most titles allow you to customize menus and various aspects of your presentation.

1
Begin by arranging your pictures into a folder on your computer specifically for your presentation. Don't forget to turn photos that show up sideways on your computer monitor because the camera was held sideways when the picture was taken. You can use photo enhancement software to rotate the photos by 90 degrees, and then create backgrounds to fill the space on the screen behind these re-oriented pictures.

2
Add the pictures to the presentation. Use your picture-to-DVD software to navigate to the folder you created. The software will show you how many pictures you can fit on your DVD with the transition time you select. The normal time spent on each photo is between seven and eight seconds. You can adjust this if you like, but the longer the transition time, the fewer pictures you can store on your DVD. This may not be a problem, though, as you have up to 150 minutes of playing time available on a standard DVD.

Add music. Use the picture-to-DVD software to find appropriate music on your computer. The software will show you the total duration of your song selections and how much time you need to fill given the number of pictures you have. The software will repeat your music selections if the picture show lasts longer than the music.

Decide how you want the presentation to appear. You can have it begin as soon as you insert the DVD, or create a custom menu using the templates in the software. The menu will display when the DVD is inserted and include a "Play" button to begin the presentation. You can customize the presentation by choosing different transitions between pictures, or create a border around the pictures from a selection of border templates.
