1
Launch Photoshop and open two images you want to combine. Use two images with the same resolution. To check this, click "Image" from the Photoshop menu at the top of the screen and select "Image Size" from the drop-down menu. Adjust the image size so that your images are the same resolution, if necessary.

2
Select a portion of one image that you want to move to the target image. Use the "Lasso Tool" or one of the other selection tools in the Photoshop Toolbar to make a selection. For example, draw around a person.

Click "Select" on the menu bar at the top of the screen. Choose "Modify" from the drop-down menu and then click "Feather." Enter a feather radius of 20 pixels for now and click "OK." You may have to alter this radius by trial and error to get exactly the effect you seek.

4
Select the "Move Tool" in the Photoshop Toolbar and click in the selected portion of the photo. Drag the selection across to the target photo. Position it where you want it to appear. If you need to change the size of the portion you are dragging, click "Edit" from the menu bar and choose "Transform" from the drop-down menu and "Scale" from the fly-out menu. Type a percentage at the top of the Photoshop screen to change the size. Click "Return" or "Enter" to apply the change.

5
The portion of the image that you moved appears on its own layer. You can manipulate it separately from the target image at this point. You can lighten or darken it, rotate it, vary the colors or resize it. When you are happy with the image, select "Flatten Image" from the Layer Panel drop-down menu and click "Save."
