How to Treat an Ear Infection in your Baby or Child Naturally

Ear infections can be painful and inhibit haring and thus speaking for babies and young children.
How to treat an ear infection without antibiotics. Both the oil of garlic and the onions are infection fighters.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Oil of garlic
  • An onion or two
  • A small glass microwave save dish
  • A thin hand towel or rag
  1. Step 1

    Heat the oil of garlic by placing the bottle in a cup of hot water. Let sit or a minute or two.

  2. Step 2

    Have your child lay with his or her head turned to the side, ear to be treated facing up.

  3. Step 3

    Place 1 or 2 drops in ear.

  4. Step 4

    If possible, have child lay still for 30 seconds to allow oil to flow down into ear canal.

  5. Step 5

    Another treatment is to warm sliced onion in a small amount of water in a microwave safe dish for about 2 minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Then wrap warm onion in a thin towel and place over child's infected ear, making sure it is not to hot so as to burn.

  7. Step 7

    Hold in place for 25 - 20 minutes, or as long as child will allow.

Tips & Warnings
  • These treatments may be done as often as needed with no negative side effects.
  • The onion treatment may also be used to treat a chest infection - just place the onions on child's chest.
  • Any kind of onion will do.
  • Oil of garlic my be purchased at most health food stores.
  • Make sure that the onions are not to hot.
  • If the ear infection persists, please see your child's pediatrician.
