How to Grow Yellow Foxgloves

Yellow foxgloves can grow 3 to 5 feet in height. The term foxglove refers to the shape of the flowers, which resembles the cut off finger of a glove. Foxgloves prefer well-drained and fertile ground, but they can adapt to most soils. The flowers can withstand droughts, but they need to be watered once the soil dries to remain healthy. Although foxgloves come in a variety of colors, the yellow foxglove makes a great addition to add color to your garden. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Find a location where the foxgloves will receive plenty of sunlight. Use rich soils with plenty of moisture and fertilizer. Keep the flowers in shady areas if you live in a hot climate. Temperate climates will need to grow the foxgloves in a partially shaded area.

    • 2

Sow yellow foxgloves seeds directly in the ground during the summer. Only sow the seeds once the threat of frost passes.

    • 3

Add compost or organic matter to enrich the soil. Cover the seeds lightly with 1/8 inch garden soil. Space the seeds 15 to 18 inches apart.

    • 4

Water the foxgloves one to two times a week during dry periods. Add more fertilizer once a month to allow the flowers to grow larger.

    • 5

Prune the flowers by removing the blooms. The blooms need cut once they reach their peak. Place the blooms in a vase to create beautiful flower arrangements.

Tips & Warnings

  • Divide the clumps after three to four years.
