How to Get Pink Hair Dye Out of Blond Hair

Dyeing your hair from platinum blond to bubblegum pink was easy, and you loved it for about a week. Now you're wishing you would have used a temporary dye rather than going for a permanent look. Don't worry, while dyeing hair from pink back to blond might be a little more difficult than dyeing blond hair pink, it can be done. You can have your beautiful blond locks back in no time with a few items found at your local drug store or beauty supply shop.

Things You'll Need

• Shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair
• Towel
• Hair color stripping kit
• Gloves
• Shower cap
• Blond hair dye

Instructions

1. Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. You want to remove any styling products or chemicals before applying the color stripper. Blot hair dry with a towel until all moisture is completely gone.

2. Mix the color stripping solution by following all directions in the kit. Each color stripper is different so make sure to read all of the directions before applying anything to your hair. Also, make sure to wear gloves to protect your hands.

3. Apply the color stripping solution to you hair immediately. After the solution has been distributed evenly throughout the hair, cover with a shower cap and let the solution sit for the amount of time recommended in the kit.

4. Rinse the solution thoroughly from the hair with lukewarm water. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear. Towel-dry hair after all of the dye and color stripper has been removed. Some stripping solutions remove not only hair dye, but your natural hair color so you may want to dye it back to your natural blond shade. If the stripper did not remove your natural color, skip the final two steps.

5. Wait one day after removing the dye to use the blond hair dye kit. The one-day waiting period will allow natural oils to build up in your scalp, protecting it from the chemicals in the dye. Mix the dye according to the instructions on the box and apply to your hair.

6. Rinse the dye from the hair after letting the dye sit the appropriate amount of time as directed in the instructions on the box. Rinse with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Dry hair and style as usual.
