How to Copy Cassette Tapes to a CD Without a Computer

Cassette tapes are difficult to listen to while traveling since they are not compatible with car CD players. Copying a cassette tape to a CD makes it possible to listen to the contents of the cassette while on the go or even at home. A cassette-to-CD record player can be used to copy the cassette tape to a CD without the need for a computer. The process is completely contained within the cassette-to-CD record player and takes no time at all to understand how to do.

• Cassette-to-CD record player
• Blank CD-R

1. Eject the cassette tray of the cassette-to-CD record player. Insert the cassette tape into the cassette tray with side one facing outwards. Close the cassette tray. Eject the CD tray. Insert a blank recordable CD into the CD tray. Close the CD tray.

2. Press the "Fast Rewind" button on the cassette control panel to rewind the cassette tape to the beginning. Press the "Stop" button when the cassette tape has been fully rewound. Press the "Play" button on the cassette control panel to start playing the cassette tape.

3. Press the "Record" button on the CD control panel to start recording the cassette tape to the blank recordable CD. Press the "Pause" button on the CD control panel when the cassette tape has finished playing. Press the "Stop" button on the cassette control panel.

4. Eject the cassette tape. Turn it around and place it back into the cassette tray with side two facing out. Close the cassette tray. Press the "Play" button on the cassette control panel to start playing side two of the cassette tape. Press the "Pause" button on the CD control panel to continue recording the cassette tape to the blank recordable CD.

5. Press the "Stop" button on the CD control panel when the second side of the cassette tape has finished playing. Press the "Stop" button on the cassette control panel and eject the cassette tape. Put the cassette tape away. Press the "Eject" button on the CD control panel and take out the CD that was made from the cassette tape without a computer.

Tips & Warnings

• A cassette-to-CD record player can be rented or bought from an audio store or found used at auction site.

• Do not use cheap no-name blank recordable CDs as they tend to cease working after a few years.
