Measure the width and length of the area in feet. Multiply the two figures together. For example: 27 feet x 36 feet = 972. This is the square footage of the area.

Divide by nine the square footage you just calculated. There are nine square feet in every square yard. For example: 972 divided by 9 is 108. This is the square yardage for the area you measured.
