How to Clean Porsche Wheels
As a high end German car, Porsches not only have beautiful bodywork and paint from the factory, but also come with expensive alloy wheels that need proper care. Alloy wheels are subject to dirt and road debris as well as brake dust from the brake pads. Your Porsche's wheels should be cleaned and detailed regularly to ensure that they stay in good shape for years to come. Many Porsche wheels feature a special anodized finish that is easy to damage if the wrong wheel cleaner is used. Wheels that have a polished or painted finish should also be cared for properly.

- P21S wheel cleaner (or similar)
- Wheel cleaning brush
- Cotton swabs
- Lint-free rags
- Petroleum jelly (for anodized wheels)
- Aluminum polish (optional)
- Automotive wax (optional)

Rinse the wheels off with a hose to remove any dirt and debris, spraying the inside of the wheel arch as well to dislodge any dirt, mud or leaves that may come off later during cleaning or after the wheels have been cleaned.

Spray on a mild wheel cleaner that has the proper pH balance so that the anodized finish is not damaged. Porsche recommends P21S alloy wheel cleaner for anodized wheels, which is available at Porsche dealerships.

Use a wheel cleaning brush to gently scrub the wheel center, wheel rim and the insides of the spoke openings. Use cotton swabs to clean hard to reach areas and the recesses around the lug nuts.

Rinse the wheels with the hose after they have been cleaned. Dry the wheels thoroughly with a clean, lint-free rag.

Coat anodized wheels with a light layer of petroleum jelly every few months to protect the finish.

Polish the wheels, if they have a polished finish, with a high quality aluminum polish such as the kind available from Eagle Day or Meguiars. (See Resources 2 & 3)

Wax the centers on Porsche wheels that have painted centers. Use a high quality automotive wax such as the kind made by Meguiars. (See Resources 3)
