How to Replace an Above Ground Pool Beaded Liner
Swimming pools provide homeowners with hours of entertainment and exercise during the warm weather months. Above ground pools need as much care as in ground pools and one area that needs the most attention is the pool liner. The function of the pool liner is to keep the water inside of the pool. When pool liners become worn and old, they are more susceptible to tears and must be replaced. Although draining of the pool is required to replace the pool liner, the project is not a difficult one to undertake. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

Instructions

1
Drain the pool of water and remove the old pool liner by pulling the beaded edge out of the track located along the pool edge. This track is also called the bead receiver.
-
2
Lay the old pool liner flat on the ground and use a tape measure to measure the dimensions. Purchase a new pool liner that is the same size as the old liner.
-
-
3
Unroll the new pool liner on a flat surface in direct sunlight with the top facing upward. Allow the liner to sit in the sun for at least 30 minutes to warm up, which makes it easier to install.
-
4
Remove the skimmer and skimmer return by unscrewing the screws with a screwdriver.
-
5
Place a piece of cardboard over the skimmer hole and secure the edges with duct tape.
-
6
Place the end of the shop vacuum hose into the opening for the skimmer basket and secure the hose with duct tape.
-
7
Hold one edge of the liner while two other people hold the liner at evenly spaced intervals. Drape the liner over the opening of the pool.
-
8
Insert the beads along the edge of the liner into the track at the edge of the pool. Simply push the beads in until they click. Continue working your way around the pool edge until the entire liner edge is attached to the pool.
-
9
Turn on the shop vacuum to suck the air out from under the liner. Use a soft bristled push broom to assist with smoothing out the wrinkles in the bottom of the pool and to center the circular seam on the pool liner with the bottom edges of the pool.
-
10
Turn off the shop vacuum and remove the hose from the side of the pool.
-
11
Use a garden hose to fill the pool with water up to the level of the skimmer.
-
12
Replace the skimmer and skimmer return by inserting the screws with a screwdriver.
