Untangle hair extensions; it's best to do this with your fingers. If you have knots that are particularly unruly, try using a fine-tooth comb. Be very gentle to avoid ripping out hair.

Separate hair into sections according to where you have clipped the hair. Loosely clip each section of hair up. Be gentle to avoid shifting the clips.

Start with the section of hair closest to your neck. Angle the curling iron toward the floor. Take a 1-inch section of the extension and wrap it around the iron, beginning at the root and working down to the end. Do not use the clip on the curling iron to hold the hair in place; instead, use an oven glove and hold the tip of the hair. This will prevent any dents that can be caused by the curling iron's clip.
