Instructions

    • 1

Lay a towel out on a flat surface. Put your tile on the towel, and cover it with another towel.

    • 2

Use a hammer to crush the ceramic tile into smaller pieces. After you strike the tile a few times, check to ensure that the pieces are the appropriate size for your project.

    • 3

Clean the vase of dirt and debris. This ensures that the ceramic tiles will lay flat against the vase.

    • 4

Use ceramic tile nippers to change the shape of your tile. You want the tile pieces to appear as if they fit together, and you want to avoid sharp edges that may cut you when you affix the tile to the vase.

    • 5

Glue the tile to the vase while leaving ¼ to ½ inch of space between the tile pieces. This space will fill with grout after you affix the tile. Cover the vase entirely with the tile, and allow it to dry for 6 to 8 hours.

    • 6

Use a spatula to spread to grout over the vase. Do not leave any space without grout to ensure that it fills all the empty spaces. Allow the grout to set for 20 minutes.

    • 7

Remove excess cement grout with a wet cloth by gently pressing on the vase. The grout will stay in the gaps. Rinse the cloth with water in between wipes.

    • 8

Allow the grout to set for 24 hours. After 24 hours, you can spray a sealant over the vase, and display it in your home.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can create tiles from stained glass to add bright and vivid colors to your vase.

  • Wear work gloves when using the glass nippers to prevent injury to your hands.
