1
Decide how big you want your plant to grow. Choose a pot for the size plant you want. Place a cloth wick at the bottom of the pot, coming out of the drainage hole. This will make sure the plant does not get overwatered. Put a couple inches of dirt in the bottom of the new pot. Gently remove your dieffenbachia from its old pot and carefully set the plant in the new pot. Fill the pot with potting soil and water thoroughly.

2
Fertilize the dieffenbachia during its growing season of March to September. About once a month is fine. Do not fertilize in the winter.

Water regularly during the growing season, spring through summer. During the winter, cut back on the watering, allowing the soil to dry out between watering. Mist frequently with a mister and wash the leaves with water occasionally.

4
Place the plant near a point of light source if you are using indoor light. If it does not have a direct source of light then it will grow in many directions searching for one. If you are using the sun as a light source, plant requires partial shade from the sun in the summer and bright light in the winter.
