How to Make Papaya Cuticle Soak

Papaya cuticle soak is a simple, natural cure for sore, ragged, and rough-looking cuticles. This treatment is best applied after showering because the cuticles will have softened, making it easier to apply. Making your own cosmetics and skin-care products has many benefits, including saving you money from not having to buy expensive commercial products. Homemade skin-care products also eschew the use of potentially dangerous additives and preservatives often found in commercial products. The papaya cuticle soak makes enough for one treatment of both hands, though the recipe is easily adjusted to accommodate more people--and more cuticles. Does this Spark an idea?

Transfer the papaya and olive oil to a small mixing bowl and mash with a potato masher.

    • 3

Transfer the mashed papaya and olive oil to a blender cup and add the wheat germ oil. Blend for about one minute on high speed.

    • 4

Pour the mixture into a small glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.

    • 5

Apply the mixture to the cuticle of one of your fingers with an orange stick while pushing back against the cuticle.

    • 6

Massage the papaya mixture into the cuticle gently for about 15 seconds. Soak the fingertip for about 5 minutes in the juice mixture before moving on to the next finger until all your fingers have been treated. Rinse fingers in warm water and pat dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a couple of drops of tea tree oil if you're suffering from a nail fungus. Tea tree oil is popular for its healing properties.

  • Avoid storing or mixing any type of homemade cosmetics or skin-care products in an aluminum container, as there is serious concern about heavy metals entering the body through the pores.
