The Stand Legs
-
1
Use the saw to cut the long dowel into three 8 inch long sections.
-
2
Take one dowel section and measure one inch from the end with the ruler. Mark the spot with a pencil. Repeat this step with a second dowel section. These will be the side legs of the stand.
-
-
3
Use the ruler and pencil to mark a spot one inch in from both ends of the remaining dowel.
-
4
Use the drill to drill a hole through the spots you marked on the dowel sections.
-
5
Pick up a dowel piece with the hole drilled one inch back from the end. Pour a small amount of glue in the hole and gently tap a dowel pin into it with the hammer. Now apply a little glue onto the part of the pin still sticking up. Take up the other dowel section with only one hole drilled in it and gently tap it onto the wooden pin. You just made the legs of the stand.
The Crosspiece and Pegs
-
6
The gap between the free ends of the dowel sections should be 6 inches. Use the ruler to measure and open the gap if needed by gently pulling the legs outward to get a 6 inch gap.
-
7
Place the remaining dowel across the ends of the legs and push it back until the holes you drilled in it line up with legs.
-
8
Mark each side with a pencil and take the dowel off. Now use the drill to drill through the dowel at the spots you just marked.
-
9
Apply glue to the holes and tap wooden pins into the holes. Put some glue on the pins and gently tap the last dowel piece down onto the pins. The cross piece is now attached.
-
10
Mark a spot 2 inches back from the cross piece on each side and drill a hole halfway through the dowel. Apply glue to each hole and gently tap the decorative wooden pegs into the holes. Now the photo stand is done.
