1
Keep the area around your tea rose bush clear of old leaves and debris. Bugs can lurk in this material eventually infesting the tea rose bush.
-
2
Tea rose bushes should be positioned at least 3 feet from one another to give each bush plenty of room to grow. They should be planted in full sun where they get between four and five hours of sunlight a day.
-
-
3
Tea rose bushes should be fed twice per growing season. Once right after pruning and a second time after the first blossoms of the season start to wilt.
-
4
Give tea rose bushes a deep watering at least once a week in early morning. During hot weather these bushes require a lot of water. Keep an eye on the ground around the bushes. If it looks dry or cracked, give the rose bush a good soaking with the water hose.
-
5
Mulch the rose bush to maintain moisture and consistency of temperature in the ground the bush is planted in. It keeps down weeds, too.
-
6
Prune in early spring when the bush is dormant. Take out any dead wood and check for new growth canes. Be careful with these as this is where the flowers will spring from in the summer. Prune healthy canes from last year back. A good rule of thumb is that you can prune back up to 50 percent of last year's growth. Finally prune for over all shape.
