How to Childproof a VCR or DVD Player
Small children are often curious about things that they see or hear. In particular, many children will touch and play with things as they explore their environment. Unfortunately, some of those things, such as VCR and DVD players, may not be things you want them to play with. However, instead of worrying about what the kids will get into, you can childproof your player to keep access limited. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lock the VCR or DVD player behind a cabinet or door. Make sure the door is made of glass so you can use the remote without unlocking it.
-
2
Place the VCR or DVD player in a place that is out of reach of children, such as a shelf or ledge. Be sure to adjust any cables or plugs accordingly.

3
Wrap up cables that go with the player using cable wraps. Wrap the cable wraps around the wires as a whole, then secure the loop. This will minimize the amount of cables that children can pull or get stuck on.
-
4
Use a VCR lock to block access to the player. While not as secure as placing the player in a cabinet or out of reach, the lock will help to keep a child's hands off of the player and keep small items from being inserted in a VCR slot.
