How to Use Fresh Fruit or Vegetables for Candle Holders
While searching for something unique and eye-catching for a dining table centerpiece, look no further than your fruit and vegetable crisper. Use apples, squash, small pumpkins, eggplants or pears as candle holders. Simply carve out an opening in the top of a piece of fruit or a vegetable. Once you have the candles inserted into the fruits or vegetables of your choice, arrange them artfully in the center of a table for a beautiful centerpiece.

Instructions
-
-
1
Use the soft cloth to shine the fruits or vegetables you will use to make candle holders. Rub them until they gleam.
-
2
Insert the corer into the top of the vegetable or fruit at the center. Use the corer to remove any stems. Insert the corer approximately 1 inch into the fruit or vegetable and remove a hole in the center of the fruit or vegetable to make a spot to insert the candle. If you are using tea lights, make your hole wider and shallower. If you are using pillar candles, make your hole narrower and deeper.

Tips & Warnings
If you have trouble making the candles stay straight in the fruit or vegetable candle holders, place a drop of melted wax in the holes prior to inserting the candle. The melted wax will adhere to the candles and keep them straight.
Fill the holes with lemon juice prior to placing the candles in the holes to help keep the fruits and vegetables from oxidizing and becoming soft. Leave the lemon juice in the holes for 5 to 19 minutes and then pour out the juice.
