How to Back Up a Hard Drive With Norton 360

Symantec programs are well-known computer security and data back-up applications. In the past, if you wanted to protect your computer against virus and spyware threats, as well as have backups of your files, you needed to purchase Norton Antivirus and Norton Ghost. Now, Norton 360 provides a backup utility, along with antivirus and antispyware protection. Norton 360 allows you to save up to 2 gigabytes of data online, or you can save your data to a burnable CD or DVD disk.

      Open Norton 360 by double left clicking the Norton icon on your computer's desktop.

      Choose the "Backup and Restore" menu option in the Norton program menu.

      Choose the "Set Up" menu option to configure your Norton backup. Then, check the folders that you want to back up.

      Choose where you want to save your backup files. In the dialogue box, you can select "Secure Online Storage," or you can save your files to an external hard drive, alternate disk, or directly onto a CD or DVD by choosing the proper drive.

      Enter your e-mail and password for your Symantec account password if this is your first time using Norton 360 for data backup. This will be the same user name and password that you used during product activation and registration of Norton 360. Then, choose the "Save Settings" menu button.

      Single left click the "Run Backup Now" menu button and Norton 360 will back up your hard drive. Norton will inform you when your hard drive backup is complete.
