How to Convert Pictures to a DVD Movie

Your collection of pictures means a lot more when you can share them with others. The best way to make your pictures available to friends or family members is to transfer them to a DVD so they can be enjoyed on any television. Adding music further enhances the experience. With Windows DVD Maker on Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium, you can quickly turn plain pictures into a more interesting visual experience.

      Transfer any photos that are not already digital files to your computer. If you already have all the pictures on your computer, skip to Step 2.

      You will need to scan the photos. Simply install the supplied software on your Windows PC, plug in the unit and follow the instructions for transferring scanned photos. The included software will allow you to fix problems like "red-eye" and make other adjustments to your pictures so they look their best for transfer to DVD.

      Open Windows DVD Maker by going to the "Start" icon and selecting "All Programs" and then "Windows DVD Maker."

      Click the "Choose photos and videos" button.

      The next window allows you to locate files you want to add to the DVD.

      Click the "Add items" button and navigate to the folder that contains your pictures. Note that Windows DVD Maker does the math for you to calculate how many pictures will fit onto a DVD. A display icon in the lower left will show you how many minutes you've used of the 150 minutes available.

      Add music. Just as you added pictures in the previous step, you can click the "Add items" button again to add the music you would like to play with the pictures. When you're finished, click the "Next" button. Your photo collection is ready to burn to DVD.

      Preview your DVD by pressing the "Preview" button. Windows DVD Maker will take a moment to compile the presentation, then begin showing you the DVD menu you created. Click on "Play" to view the presentation with the music you added.

      Insert a blank DVD and click the "Burn" button.
