How to Make More Flowers Bloom on a Zinnia Plant
Zinnias are an easy-to-grow flowering annual that if properly cared for will provide your garden with colorful flower blooms all summer long. Once planted, they grow quickly, and start blooming in just a few weeks if weather conditions are right. They prefer warm soil, and should be planted in mid-May. Choose a high sun spot in your garden to plant zinnias. Lots of sunlight will encourage zinnias to thrive and produce more blooms.

Apply a layer of compost fertilizer over the bed where your zinnias are planted, and keep the area well fertilized.

Keep an eye on your zinnias, inspecting each plant for signs that blooms have started to dry out and die.

Pinch off dead, dried out flower heads at the base of the bloom. You can also use garden sheers to snip them clean if you aren't comfortable pinching them off.

If you plan to keep the dried out flower heads for seeding next season, you will not want to pinch them off until the season has ended. You can still promote more flowers to bloom by keeping the soil weed free, and providing the flowers with plenty of nutrients during the growing season.
