Backup your computer before removing any malicious tool. This allows you revert your computer to a previous state if you make a mistake. To backup your computer, click the Windows "Start" menu and select "All Programs."

Select "Accessories" and select "System Tools." Click "System Restore" to launch the backup utility. Click "Create a new restore point" and click "Next." Type a name for the restore point and click "Create" to backup your computer.

Launch your antivirus program and click the "Update" button to install the latest spyware and virus definitions. Shut down the program after completing the updating process. If you do not have an antivirus program, download and install a free antivirus program such as AVG. Launch the program and click "Update" to install the latest spyware and virus definitions. Consider a free additional malware removing tool such as Malwarebytes Antimalware. Launch the program after completing the installation, and click the "Check for updates" tab to install the latest malware definitions.

Boot your computer into Windows Safe Mode. Safe Mode shuts down the Internet network and allows a limited number of programs and drives to run, thus making it ideal for removing malicious programs. To boot into Safe Mode, shut down all programs and restart your computer.

Press "F8" repeatedly before Windows restarts. This launches the Windows Advanced Options Menu. Select "Safe Mode," and press "Enter" to log into Windows Safe Mode.
