How to Decorate With Nutcrackers
Nutcrackers define the winter holiday season for many people. Decorative nutcrackers were originally given as keepsakes that would protect a home and bring good luck, and were mainly present on dessert tables as both conversation pieces and to literally crack nuts. Nutcrackers are now available in both the traditional German garb as well as in novelty modern dress with accessories----for example, there is a guitar playing nutcracker and a pilot nutcracker. With their variety of designs and their bright-colored costumes, nutcrackers will bring a touch of old-world tradition to your holiday celebrations. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Line a mantelpiece. Clear off your mantel and line up a diverse collection of nutcrackers facing outward along the shelf. Get some "angel hair" which is a white, fluffy decorative element you can buy at a hobby shop. Spread it along the feet of your nutcrackers for a snowy effect.
-
2
Distribute nutcrackers along an appetizer table. Place a tablecloth on your appetizer or beverage table, then place some nutcrackers amongst the food plates. Use a little white decorative "grass" to put at the feet of the nutcrackers or string a set of white lights along the table and around the feet of the nutcrackers for an eye-catching effect. Place food plates in a non-linear pattern on the table.

Group together in a kitchen. Place an arrangement of three nutcrackers of different sizes in the corner of a kitchen countertop and arrange angel hair and white holiday lights around their feet to create a warm glow. You can also line larger nutcrackers on the tops of cabinets or on the refrigerator to continue the theme.

Tips & Warnings
Dust off nutcrackers before displaying. Even when nutcrackers have been stored in boxes after the season is over, a damp rag can bring out the colors on a nutcracker and freshen it up.
Don't use your nutcrackers to actually crack nuts. You could end up breaking your statue.
