Finding Former Teachers
-
1
Contact your former elementary school, high school or college about your former teacher. Inquire about her whereabouts if she no longer teaches at the institution. The school may be able to give you some information to assist you with your search.

Visit a class reunion website such as http://www.classmates.com. There you can contact your classmates and inquire about your former teacher. Your former classmates may have information about that teacher. Websites like these incorporate discussions for every school group. Post a discussion asking about your former teacher; you don't have to worry about privacy because only your former classmates or students from your former school will be able to access the discussion. Before accessing your class information you will have to register for an account. You can register for a free account by choosing the location of your former school (state, then city) after the site opens. The free account will allow you to communicate with former classmates via a community forum for your class; you can also leave messages on their wall on its personal page. You can also register for a paid account that will allow you to send email directly to former classmates and see where they currently live. The paid registration costs $39 a year.

Contact the teacher's union in your area. Give it the name of your former teacher and the reason for your inquiry. The chapter of the teacher's union may have her contact information as well as the school where she currently teaches (if she is still teaching). The teacher's union may contact the teacher first; many will not just hand over contact information because of privacy reasons.

Speak with your parents or former classmates' parents. There may be a chance someone stayed in contact with your former teacher. This method will certainly make it easier to find your former teacher.
