How to Install a Replacement Lacrosse Net

Lacrosse players and their gear may take a fair share of beatings throughout a game or a season, but so does the lacrosse net. With all the scoring that takes place, the hard rubber ball does its damage to the twine that sits inside the large triangular frame and inevitably will need to be replaced at some point. Stringing the net is done through a restringing process and attaching fasteners.

Things You'll Need

  • New goal mesh netting
  • 25 feet heavy-gauge nylon cord
  • Cutting tool

Instructions

    • 1

Stretch the mesh out flat and line up the corners of the net with the corresponding top, bottoms and rear corners of the metal goal frame. The heavier nylon cord indicates the edges of the net that are supposed to be flush against the frame. Stretch the top of the net over the top angle and pull downward to the bottom corners.

    • 2

Stretch the net over the bottom corners (it may help to lay the goal on its side for easier access) and pull the slack backward over the rear corner. Check to make sure and the net is flush to all the corners and the sides of the frame. Unravel the heavy nylon cord.

    • 3

Thread the string through the top angle of the mesh and continue threading through the netting in an over-under pattern, going down on side of the frame and pulling the string taut as you go. Continue threading and pulling the cord until all sides of the frame are covered and the net is secure. Cut away any unused length and tie the remaining cord off against the frame.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your new netting comes with fabric fasteners or zip ties, simply line up the net and attach the net to the frame in the same manner, using the fasteners or ties to secure the net to the frame.
