How to Hook Up a Bar Code Scanner to the Computer

If you run a business, you most likely need to use a bar-code scanner to help keep track of the products coming into and going out of your store. It's also possible to connect a bar-code scanner to a home computer. These devices connect via a USB port just like most other external hardware devices.

Instructions

1. Connect the bar-code scanner to your computer via the USB port. A window will appear stating the computer has detected a new piece of hardware.

2. Insert the driver installation disc. Wait for the installation wizard to launch.

3. Follow the prompts to complete installation. Remove the driver disc and replace it with a software disc if provided.
