How to Collapse a Paper Lantern

Paper lanterns are an effective way to mood light a room or add atmosphere to a party. The lamps are usually lit by a single bulb placed in the center of the lantern. Collapsible paper lamps have metal inserts that hold the expansion of the lantern and attach it for hanging. • Paper lantern with removable metal insert

Instructions

1. Turn off the power and remove the lantern from the light bulb. The paper lantern should slip off of the fixture.

2. Unhook the top grooves of the metal expander from the paper lantern's top edge.

3. Gently push the paper lantern down over the expander, collapsing the paper lamp shade.

4. Unhook the metal expander's bottom grooves from the bottom edge.

5. Pull the expander out through the top hole of the paper lantern.

• Take extra care when collapsing and expanding paper lanterns; the paper can tear easily.
