How to Collapse a Paper Lantern

Turn off the power and remove the lantern from the light bulb. The paper lantern should slip off of the fixture.

Unhook the top grooves of the metal expander from the paper lantern's top edge.

Gently push the paper lantern down over the expander, collapsing the paper lamp shade.

Unhook the metal expander's bottom grooves from the bottom edge.

Pull the expander out through the top hole of the paper lantern.
