1
Open a blank document in your word-processing software. Set the document size to letter (8.5 by 11 inches).
-
2
Type the words you want to stencil or insert an image by selecting "Picture" from the Insert menu. Choose the appropriate file for your image or select one from the clip art available in your software.

-
3
Cut a sheet of freezer paper to 8.5 by 11 inches.
-
4
Print the image and text on the non-shiny side of the freezer paper, just as if you were printing on regular paper.
-
5
Preheat your iron to the appropriate temperature for the material (such as a t-shirt) to which you'll be adding your design. Use a craft knife to cut out around the image, leaving any inner pieces intact.
-
6
Position the freezer paper over the material with the shiny side of the paper facing down. Iron the freezer paper to the material until the two have fused.
-
7
Use paint or markers to trace around the stencil. Fill in the design with additional paint or markers until you are satisfied.
-
8
Allow the paint or marker to dry completely, then peel off the freezer paper.
