How to Install a Bench Seat in a Sprinter Van

The Dodge Sprinter has become a popular vehicle for delivery services and commercial use because of its large cargo capacity. Some Sprinters come from the factory with bucket seats; if you need a bench seat to fit more passengers, you'll need to swap out one for the other. This isn't a difficult process, and should take about an hour to do with the help of an assistant and the proper hand tools.

Things You'll Need

• 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set
• Assistant
• Bench seat

Instructions

1. Unbolt the stock seats from the floor using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. There are four bolts securing each seat to the floor. Then tilt the seats forward and disconnect the wiring harness manually from the bottom of the seat.

2. Lift out the seats using one hand to support the back of the seat and one on the bottom, lifting the seat out by using your legs for support.

3. Lift the bench seat into the vehicle with the help of the assistant and place it into the cab of the Sprinter. One of you may have to move backwards in through the cab to do this, so make sure to pay attention to what you or the assistant is walking on so they don't trip and get hurt.

4. Bolt the bench seat to the floor using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and the factory hardware.
