How to Format a Secondary Hard Disk
When you first purchase a secondary hard drive to perform additional storage duties on your computer, you most likely need to format it to run properly. A secondary hard drive does not have the operating system on it, nor do system files save to it. However, you can use the drive to save content such as music, videos, and other data that ordinarily would take up too much space on your hard drive.
