Look on the Internet to find the location of your local business license government office, its hours and business license fees. Bring your driver's license and the funds necessary to obtain your business license.

Take the business license to the resellers or "sellers" permit office. (The office for the resellers permit may be in the same building as the business license office. If not, the business license staff should be able to direct you where to go and what you need to bring.) The resellers permit will prevent you from having to pay sales tax to your supplier if you plan to resell the fabric to an end user.

Do an Internet or Yellow Pages search for "quilting fabric wholesale" for a list of suppliers with their contact information.

Call the supplier and fill out their wholesaler application. Each wholesaler most likely will want a copy of your resellers permit or at least your resellers permit number.
