How To Cook With Ground Dried Beans

High in fiber and protein and low in fat and salt, beans are especially important in vegan and vegetarian diets, where they provide much-needed nutrition. Although you can used canned beans, dried beans actually contain less sodium and fewer preservatives, and are healthier for you.       Measure out the amount of bean flour you need for your recipe. Spread it on a flat surface and make sure it's clean. Even ground beans can contain rocks, pieces of plant and beans that are dried or withered up.

      Use bean flour to replace standard wheat flour in any recipe. Replace the wheat flour with 1/4 as much bean flour (the bean flour will expand significantly once liquid is added). Add a few tablespoons of bean flour to your dry cake, cookie or muffin mixes for added nutrition.

      Add extra nutrition to any recipe by combining wheat and bean flour rather than replacing the wheat flour entirely. Mix a few teaspoons of bean flour with the equivalent amount of water and add it to your existing recipe.

      Add bean flour to soups and gravies to add nutrition or thicken the sauce. If you want to make your soups more nutritious, add equal amounts of bean powder and water. If you're thickening a soup or gravy, add bean powder alone to take up some of the liquid in your recipe.
