How to Make a Barbie Doll Stand

Fashioning your own stand to fit a Barbie doll is a relatively easy and affordable project. You can even use some recycled materials such as an old pipe from grandpa. Using a stand to hold up a Barbie allows you to display her for show or can aid in play time.

Things You'll Need

  • Wooden pipe
  • Fine-toothed saw
  • Table
  • Craft clay
  • Cup
  • Strong glue
  • Pipe cleaner

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the pipe bowl over the edge of a sturdy table with the stem of the pipe held securely to the table with the palm of your hand and the weight of your upper body.

    • 2

Saw the bowl of the pipe off cleanly at the point where it joins to the stem. Discard the bowl and save the stem.

    • 3

Flatten some craft clay on a table like a pancake, making it about 1 inch thick. Press the mouth of the cup onto the clay to cut out a circular piece. Discard the remaining clay and save the circular piece.

    • 4

Push the thicker end of the pipe stem about 3/4 inch into the top of the circular clay piece close to the edge. Remove the stem.

    • 5

Bake the clay in the oven according to the time and temperature directions written on the package.

    • 6

Remove the clay from the oven and cool.

    • 7

Put glue in the hole made by the stem and reinsert the stem into the hole. Allow to dry.

    • 8

Stick one end of a pipe cleaner into the mouth of the stem. Stand your Barbie on top of the hardened clay piece and wrap the other end of the pipe cleaner around her body, forming a loop. Twist that end of the pipe cleaner around the part of the pipe cleaner where it enters the mouth of the stem.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the pipe has been recycled, you may wish to run another pipe cleaner through the stem to clean out any debris first before using it as a stand.

  • Although a Barbie doll was originally a child's toy, this project should not be attempted by a child since a sharp saw is involved.
