Your little boy or girl can be transformed into a cape-wearing, world-saving hero with only a few simple steps and some craft store purchases. 1
Make a cape. Cut a piece of fleece fabric that is approximately twice as wide as your child's shoulders, and the length of his shoulders down to mid-calf. Use a yarn needle to weave a length of yarn in and out of the short edge of the cape, and use this yarn to tie the cape around your child's shoulders and neck. If you don't have any yarn handy, try tying the fleece itself around your child's neck instead.

2
Make a mask by cutting an eye mask shape out of felt. Poke a hole in each side using your yarn needle, and tie elastic thread through these holes to attach the mask to your child's face. For an additional decoration, use glitter glue or sequins to embellish the mask.

Assemble your child's superhero costume using items they have in their closets. For boys, try a colorful sweatsuit and stuff the top with a pillow to simulate muscles. Add gloves on his hands and boots on his feet. For girls, let her wear tights or leggings underneath a bathing suit, and pull her hair up in a decorative high ponytail. Use fingerless gloves or wrist warmers for arm cuffs, or add legwarmers and boots on her legs.

Tips & Warnings
Instead of a fleece cape, use a blanket or sheet from your linen closet.
Instead of a mask, use swimming goggles left over from summer fun.
