How to Do Your Makeup for a Flapper Costume
The term flapper refers to 1920s women who embraced modern fashion styles and hedonistic behaviors. Flappers challenged the status quo by wearing hairstyles and asymmetrical hemlines that were considered short for that time. Modern women often channel the flapper look for Halloween and other occasions for which they dress up in costume. Women can easily re-create a flapper makeup look, which is characterized by dramatic, smoky eyes and dark red lips. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions
-
-
1
Apply a foundation that matches your natural skin tone all over the face.
-
2
Apply eye shadow primer to your eyelids. If you do not wish to use eye shadow primer, applying foundation to the lids is a suitable alternative.
-
-
3
Apply concealer to the under eye areas.
-
4
Use a brown eyeliner pencil to line your top lash lines. Begin at the inner corner of the eye and work your way outward, using short strokes.
-
5
Dip an eyeliner brush into the darker brown eye shadow. Use it to go over and gently smudge the brown liner you applied to the upper lash lines.
-
6
Select the lighter brown eye shadow and use an eye shadow brush to apply it from the upper lash line to the crease of your eye.
-
7
Apply dark brown or black mascara to your eyelashes. Use a flicking motion in your wrist to move the mascara wand upward, creating exaggerated lashes.
-
8
Use a peach- or coral-colored blush on your cheeks. Apply the product both underneath and on top of the cheek bone. Soften the edges of the blush marks with a powder buff.
-
9
Trace the outline of your lips with a red lip liner. Finish by applying either a cool or warm red lipstick to the lips, depending on which suits your skin tone better.
