How to Use AC Power Adapters

An AC adapter is a device that powers electronics by pulling power from a power outlet. Many electronic devices, from video game consoles to cell phone chargers, rely on an AC adapter to power the electronic gizmo. However, since each device has different power needs to serve it, each different device requires a different AC adapter to be set up for it.

Instructions

1. Determine the voltage you will need for the AC adapter. Usually the voltage is posted above the port of the device you need an adapter for.

2. Purchase an adapter with the proper voltage at an electronics store. If you cannot find an adapter, ask an employee for assistance.

3. Plug the adapter into the device, then plug the power end into the outlet. Turn on the device. The device should turn on and be continued to be powered.

Tips & Warnings

• Consider purchasing an adapter that can have different heads on it, so it can connect to different ports.

• Do not connect an AC adapter with a voltage different from that of your electronic device.
