So you're in the market for a new computer monitor? Here's how to compare 24-inch monitors and pick the best one.

1. Check the prices of the monitors first to see that they fit your budget.

2. Look at the resolution to be sure it's at least 1920x1200.

3. Check that it has the right inputs you need, at least HDMI, DVI-D, VGA and component.

4. Brightness should be at least 400cd/m^2, suitable for video or gaming, if that's your interest.

5. Response times should be at least 6ms, again for video or gaming.

6. Be sure the monitor offers height, tilt, swivel and pivot variations.
