When you bought your laptop, you probably thought that you had everything in it you could possibly want. Then along came the Blu-Ray drives, and now you feel left out. Not to worry, you can always purchase an external Blu-Ray optical drive and not only watch all of your Blu-Ray movies on your laptop, but also download and burn your own disks using the same optical drive. The cost is certainly less than it would be if you bought a new laptop with the technology integrated, plus you don't have to spend time transferring files. Connecting your wireless laptop to a Blu-Ray drive will probably take you less than 10 minutes.

Step 1

Unpack your Blu-Ray optical drive. It should say on the box whether or not the USB cable is included. If it isn't, you will need to purchase one before you can connect the drive.

Step 2

Connect your drive. Plug in one end of the USB cable to the optical drive. Plug the other end into your computer. If you have chosen a self-powered drive, then your connection is complete. If you have chosen a drive with an external power source, plug the adapter into the drive and then into the electrical outlet.

Step 3

Install the software. While the drive will probably work OK right out of the box, installing the software will ensure that it functions fully and as it was intended.
