How to Wash Suede Fabric

Suede is fabric made from calfskin. It is normally cheaper than leather because leather can be cut in half to make suede. Suede is a material that is hard to maintain, as it takes much care and careful attention. You must buy special items in order to help keep this material looking its best.   • Suede brush

Instructions

    • 1

      Set up the jet steamer, and get it running.

    • 2

      Hold the suede at least 6 inches from the jet steamer, and wait until the suede is heated, keeping the moisture to a minimum on the suede.

    • 3

      Use the suede brush on the rubber bristle side to remove any dirt or stains by gently scrubbing the area.

    • 4

      Use the opposite side of the suede brush with the brass bristles on the suede to restore the nap of the material.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the brush in one direction only for both sides. Failure to do so may result in damaging the fabric.
