How to Decorate with Greek-Style Pictures
Use Greek-style pictures to complete any room with a Greek theme. Pictures that concentrate on mythical Greek gods, goddesses or creatures, ancient Greek pottery, clouds, angels, the countryside, water fountains, statues or any other Grecian symbols could be considered Greek-style pictures. Use the pictures to complement the room's decor, or as the base or inspiration for decorating the room. The pictures you choose should reflect the activities that generally occur in the room, such as entertaining, sleeping or eating. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Paint the walls--and maybe even the ceiling--to go along with your specific Grecian theme and provide a backdrop so your Grecian picture stands out. For example, if you're decorating a bedroom using Greek god or goddess pictures, paint the walls, and possibly the ceiling, to provide the right backdrop for the particular god or goddess you've chosen. For example, clouds or a sky blue wall could house a picture of Pegasus, the winged horse.

2
Place the furniture in the room to create a relaxing, laid back and inviting atmosphere that focuses on and complements the pictures. Beds with luxurious white bedding or chaise lounges are good choices if they make sense in the room. For example, if you're hanging a picture of ancient Greece that shows a garden with columns and water fountains, put a small water fountain or vase with similarly colored flowers near the picture.

3
Hang the largest or most important Greek picture in a prominent place in the room, making it the focal point. For example, hang the picture opposite the bed in a bedroom so that's what you see when you're in bed. Or hang it above the bed if you see that wall when you enter the room. Hang the picture above a fireplace, sofa table, or sofa in a living room.

Add accessories to the room to complete your theme. Use white columns in lieu of nightstands to hold flowing houseplants. Use two columns to support a piece of glass for a sofa table or side table. Sconces or lamps designed to look like crumbling Grecian columns can adorn the walls. Place Grecian statues or busts--distressed, of course--on columns. Place a large bowl overflowing with grapes--artificial is fine--on a table next to a chaise. Add glow-in-the-dark stars to the ceiling of a child's room.

Tips & Warnings
Use one small area of a room to introduce the Greek-style painting and a couple of small features if you're not comfortable turning the entire room into a Grecian utopia. Make that area special by decorating the rest of the room in light, natural colors.
Formal rooms, such as dining rooms, may benefit from Grecian-styled textured ceilings and walls.
Avoid adding too much. Overdoing it will cause the room to feel and appear chaotic and make it difficult for your eyes to focus on the pictures.
