How to Care for Red Wing Boots

Red Wing has been manufacturing boots since 1905. Things You'll Need

• Pine Pitch and Mink Oil blend boot oil
• Plastic-bristle utility brush
• Soft cloth
• Odor-absorbing powder
• Flat-head screwdriver

Instructions

Oil-Tanned Leather Uppers

1. Shake the bottle of Pine Pitch and Mink Oil blended natural boot oil gently.

2. Brush all the dirt and debris from the boots with a plastic-bristle utility brush.

3. Apply a two-inch circle of boot oil to a soft cloth and work the oil into the leather surfaces of the boot.

Removable Foot Bed

1. Take the removable foot bed out of the boots and inspect it for wear and damage. Replace any that show extreme wear or damage.

2. Apply a small amount of odor-absorbing powder to the removable foot bed.

3. Reposition the foot bed into the boots and make sure that there are no wrinkles or bends.

Man-Made Material Soles

1. Inspect the soles for any damage or unusual wear patterns. Replace any with severe damage by returning them to Red Wing for resoling.

2. Brush any loose dirt from the soles with a plastic-bristle utility brush.

3. Remove any ground-in dirt or metal filings by placing the edge of a flat-head screw driver in the tread and pressing it against the tread pattern until all the accumulated dirt or filings have been removed.

• Oiling your boots whenever they lighten in color or appear dry will increase the boots' ability to shed water.

• Boot oil will stain your clothing.
