How to Clean Porcelain Apron Front Sinks
Porcelain apron front sinks bring a vintage look to your home. Porcelain sinks are easy to keep clean and shiny if you rinse them after every use (to prevent soap scum and water mineral deposits) and clean them as often as necessary. Cleaning apron front sinks is similar to cleaning any other porcelain sink. Things You'll Need
- Mild dish detergent
- Rubber gloves
- Sponge
- Baking soda (or a nonabrasive cleaning powder)
- Cloths
- Towel

Fill your apron front sink 1/4 of the way full with warm water. Add 1 tbsp. mild dish detergent. Put on rubber gloves to protect your skin.

Dampen a sponge in the water and then sprinkle either baking soda or a nonabrasive cleaning powder on the damp sponge. Scrub the back, inner area and rim of the sink with the sponge.

Apply more baking soda or cleaning powder to the sponge. Scrub the inside walls of the sink and then the bottom. Let the water drain out and turn on the faucet.

Wipe the already-scrubbed surfaces with a cloth dampened in the running water. Apply more cleaning powder to the sponge and scrub the front--the apron--of the porcelain sink. Wipe this clean as well with the cloth dampened in the running water.

Turn off the faucet. Wipe all surfaces down with a clean, soft towel.

Tips & Warnings
You may use a cleaner containing bleach on heavily stained porcelain sinks. PorcelainEnamel.com, however, advises against leaving bleach-based cleaners on the surface of these sinks for more than a few seconds.
PorcelainEnamel.com warns against using steel wool to clean porcelain--if you must use anything abrasive, use only nylon scrubbing pads and soft powdered abrasives (such as baking soda).
Don't leave remnants of food, sauces or other potentially staining things in your porcelain sink without cleaning it quickly. The longer stain-causing items have been left in your sink, the longer it will take you to clean it.
