How to Use Rubber Rings for Chainmaille
Rubber rings are useful for adding color to chainmaille weaves. Available in countless colors and sizes, rubber rings add flexibility to weaves and can eliminate the need for clasps, making them ideal for the creation of anklets, bangles arm bands and rings. Practically any weave can use use rubber rings, but certain weaves, such as Byzantine, European and Japanese weaves are the most popular.
There are three particularly popular types of rubber rings: EPDM, silicone and neoprene. EPDM rings, which are made from rubber, and silicone rings are brightly colored rings. Neoprene rings are rubber rings which are treated to be glow in the dark. All three types of rings are coated with UV protection and are hypoallergenic, making them ideal for use with any weave.
