How to Use Weed & Feed Products
Weed-and-feed products save time and labor by combining needed lawn grass fertilizer with a broadleaf herbicide to keep weeds from developing or colonizing the lawn. The products come in a dry granular form, as well as a liquid form that you dilute with water and apply using a sprayer attached to the garden hose. Don't use weed-and-feed products near other plants, as they can cause damages, stunt growth or, even, kill plants. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Apply weed-and-feed products to your lawn in the fall, from the middle of September to the middle of October, when the evenings are cool, and the daylight sun is no longer scorching. This prevents chemical burns and heat and drought stress on the grass plants.
-
2
Water your lawn area well, so that all of the grass blades are wet before applying any weed-and-feed product. Alternatively, apply the product in the early morning hours when the lawn's wet with morning mist or dew.

-
3
Apply the granular product with a drop spreader, walking over the entire expanse of lawn at an even pace. Set the spreader rate as recommended on the product's packaging.
-
4
Spray the liquid formula using a garden hose over the expanse of lawn according to the product's label directions, and try to limit runoff to surrounding areas, which can damage plants and taint the soil.
-
5
Refrain from mowing the lawn and embedded weeds for several days before and after applying a weed-and-feed product. Halt watering for several days up to a week after application to allow the herbicide to do its work on the weeds before you wash it away.
