How to Hang Matchbox Cars
Matchbox cars have become popular with toy collectors who appreciate the many years of history that the toys replicate in die-cast miniatures. There is a Matchbox car for almost every type of vehicle made. It is one thing to collect these toys and keep them in pristine condition and another to display them without placing the collection at risk of damage. Hanging your Matchbox display is simple and only requires basic carpentry skills.

Purchase a collectors case that matches your home decor. These cases come in a variety of sizes and finishes. Many collectors use a wood case with a black fabric background that creates contrast between the cars and the case. Others like a mirrored background to reflect the backside of the car giving a more complete view of the collection. Make sure the case fits your collection or is a size that meets you needs and has a locking glass door to protect the assets inside.

Measure the space required for the hanging hardware in the back of the display case. Note how far from the top and side edges the screws will be mounted so you can properly frame your display case on the wall.

Hold the display case up to the wall. You may want a friend to help you by placing the level on the top of the case to make sure the case will sit evenly balanced on the wall. Use a pencil to mark the edges.

Measure where the screws will need to be placed on the wall. Do this by measuring from the top and side edges replicating the measurements you noted in Step 2. Drill the screws in required by the hardware.

Hang the display case mounts on the screws. Check the balance of the case by laying the level on the top.

Open the case and place your Matchboxes in it. Lock the case when you are done setting up your cars.

Tips & Warnings
The closer you can keep your Matchbox to mint condition, the more valuable it will be. Refrain from letting the kids play with these and don't remove them from the case unless you are cleaning them or preparing them for sale or special display.
