How to Hang an Oval Picture Frame

Oval picture frames are a popular choice for hanging family pictures. The oval shape became especially important during the Victorian period. Today, oval pictures, mirrors
or artwork are often framed in the oval shape to give interest and variety to walls using an abundance of rectangular shapes.

Things You'll Need

• Hammer
• nails
• hanging wire
• screw eyes
• wall anchors.

Instructions

1. Determine the weight range of the oval framed piece. Purchase wire, hooks, and nails within the recommended weight of the piece.

2. Mark the wall at the point where you wish to have the top of the oval and if necessary the sides.

3. Turn the frame over to the back. If there is not a wire system installed with the framed
   piece, screw in two screw eyes on either side of the oval, 2/3 of the way from the
   bottom. Thread wire through one screw eye and twist for tightness, repeat with the
   other side.

4. Hold the frame by the wire and measure from the top to the point at which it hangs.
   using this measurement mark the wall from you top of oval point, down the same
   measurement as above.

5. Hammer the nail and hook assembly into the wall, or use the wall anchors assemblies
   in the case of heavier items.

6. Hang the oval picture.
