Instructions

    • 1

Turn your dress pants inside out so that you see the seams.

    • 2

Turn on your iron to the proper setting and wait a minute for it to heat up. For cotton dress pants, turn it to the highest setting. Polyester clothes require less heat. Set up your ironing board. Fill your iron with water if it has a steam function. Steam helps press wrinkles out of cotton very quickly and reduces the chance that the clothes will burn.

    • 3

Press your hot iron over the waistband part of your dress pants first. Iron the fly area, seams, hems.

    • 4

Turn your dress pants right side out and cover the edge of the ironing board with the waist. Continue to iron the waistband, fly area, seams and any pleats.

    • 5

Remove the pants from the ironing board, fold the pants lengthwise and iron the inside and outside legs, making sure the creases line up. Iron the cuffs last. Hang up your dress pants or lay them out flat to cool off.

Tips & Warnings

  • Spray starch on the pants to make them stiffer.

  • Do not linger on any area of the fabric for more than a few seconds, or the fabric may burn.
